Job Purpose and Overview

Appfire is looking for a Technical Writer. In this critical role, you will be responsible for researching, authoring, curating, updating, and testing technical documentation and content for one or more Appfire products in a collaborative team setting.

Our tools: Confluence, Jira, Camtasia, Snagit, Arcade, Loom

What You Will Do

  • Create and maintain content for business users, casual users, administrators, developers, and external Appfire customers, including: 
  1. product documentation,
  2. user/administrative guides,
  3. use cases,
  4. instructional videos,
  5. release notes,
  6. HOW-TO and troubleshooting articles.
  • Collaborate with teams across the globe, including technical support, product management, release management, developers, QA, professional services, and sales engineering to:
  1. translate verbal and written technical requirements into documentation,
  2. assist engineers, UX designers, and others in drafting user-facing content.
  • Acquire expertise in specified products.
  • Learn and follow department procedures for writing, editing, and publishing documentation.
  • Participate in the team’s daily stand-up meetings and Agile ceremonies.

What We Would Like to See

  • 2+ years’ experience managing software documentation.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Writing or a Technical Degree (B.E/B.Tech/M.C.A) or equivalent experience.
  • Impeccable written and verbal skills in English.
  • Experience working with the Atlassian product suite (Jira, Confluence).
  • Knowledge of monday.com is a plus.
  • Ability to prepare and conduct subject matter expert interviews.  
  • Ability to work independently, including time management, prioritization, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to break down complex concepts in an understandable way.

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with the Agile process.
  • Sound investigative skills, with the ability to understand the audience’s needs and provide the information most important to them.
  • Creativity, initiative, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with industry-standard content creation, management, and publishing tools, including XML editors, content management systems, and video production tools.
  • Experience documenting APIs, SDKs, and other development-driven sources.
