Role Summary

The Social Copywriter is an independent contractor responsible for writing short-form social media content for internal team accounts, engagement responses, and social promotion. This role focuses on capturing a conversational, no-nonsense brand voice while adapting tone for different team members, campaigns, and audiences.

The contractor works independently from defined creative briefs, content calendars, or prompts and delivers completed copy assets aligned with agreed-upon scopes and timelines. The engagement is project- and deliverable-based.

Core Skillsets Required

Short-Form Social Copywriting

  • Proven experience writing concise, high-impact social media copy
  • Strong understanding of platform-specific writing styles and character constraints
  • Ability to write headlines, captions, CTAs, and engagement responses

Brand Voice & Tone Adaptation

  • Ability to capture and maintain a conversational, authentic brand voice
  • Experience adapting tone for different personalities, campaigns, or use cases
  • Strong judgment around humor, clarity, and audience alignment

Social Media & Engagement Awareness

  • Familiarity with common social media engagement patterns and best practices
  • Ability to write responses that feel human, timely, and on-brand
  • Understanding of promotional versus organic content balance

Workflow & Collaboration

  • Comfortable working from briefs, content outlines, or campaign goals
  • Able to incorporate feedback efficiently and meet agreed timelines
  • Communicates clearly around revisions and delivery

Independent Contractor Readiness

  • Operates autonomously and may serve multiple clients
  • Works on a per-deliverable or per-project basis
  • Uses their own tools and manages their own workflow
