Role Summary
The Content Editor is an independent contractor responsible for reviewing and refining content drafts submitted by creators to ensure quality, brand alignment, and compliance with campaign requirements. This role focuses on maintaining consistency, clarity, and strategic messaging across all creator deliverables before final approval. The contractor operates independently, reviewing submissions according to defined brand guidelines, campaign briefs, and technical standards. Engagement is project-based or retainer-based and outcome-focused.
Core Skillsets Required
Editorial Review & Copy Editing
- Strong grammar, syntax, and structural editing skills
- Experience editing social media, marketing, or branded content
- Ability to preserve creator voice while ensuring clarity and polish
Brand & Campaign Alignment
- Ability to review content against brand guidelines and campaign briefs
- Strong judgment around tone, positioning, and messaging consistency
- Experience identifying compliance issues or required disclosures
Platform & Content Standards
- Familiarity with social media platform requirements and best practices
- Ability to review captions, scripts, and visual copy for optimization
- Understanding of FTC disclosure considerations for influencer content
Feedback & Revision Management
- Ability to provide clear, actionable editorial feedback
- Experience managing revision cycles efficiently
- Strong written communication and professional tone
Independent Contractor Readiness
- Operates autonomously and may support multiple campaigns or clients
- Works on a per-deliverable, per-campaign, or retainer-based structure
- Uses their own tools and editorial systems to manage workflow
Contractor Engagement Scope
Scope of Work
- Editorial review of creator-submitted content as defined per campaign or statement of work
- Deliverables may include marked edits, compliance notes, feedback summaries, and approval recommendations
Work Structure
