Job Description

At Retired.com, we’re on a mission to give everyday Americans control over their financial future. As the parent company of BitcoinIRA, Rocket Dollar, and Digital Trust, we sit at the intersection of fintech innovation and retirement planning — empowering clients to invest in alternative assets like cryptocurrency, real estate, and private equity through self-directed IRAs and other tax-advantaged accounts. We’re a fast-moving, fully remote team that’s building the financial infrastructure for the next generation of retirement investing. If you want your work to matter and you thrive in an environment where you can make a real impact, you’ll fit right in here.

The Opportunity

The Business Systems Analyst serves as the Technology organization’s internal consultant to Finance, Marketing, Sales, and Operations — advising business unit leaders on technology capabilities and constraints, translating operational strategy into actionable system requirements, and ensuring that technology investments align with business performance objectives. This role leads the end-to-end requirements lifecycle: from advising senior leadership on what is technically feasible and strategically sound, to developing the functional specifications that engineering executes against. The BSA exercises significant professional judgment in evaluating requirements scope and quality, manages competing project priorities across multiple business units, and is directly accountable for the accuracy and completeness of requirements entering the engineering pipeline.

What you’ll do:

  • Serve as the Technology organization’s internal consultant to Finance, Marketing, Sales, and Operations — advising business unit leaders on technology capabilities, system constraints, and feasibility trade-offs that affect operational strategy and technology investment decisions.
  • Lead the development of functional and non-functional requirements, user stories, process flows, and acceptance criteria. Evaluate conflicting stakeholder input and make recommendations on requirements scope — including recommending de-scoping of items that do not meet feasibility, priority, or business-value thresholds — and drive resolution in collaboration with stakeholders and project leadership.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce the Technology organization’s requirements management standards, documentation templates, and quality review protocols; assess requirements readiness and recommend when they meet the threshold for engineering handoff.
  • Serve as the lead facilitator for resolving requirements disputes between business units; surface conflicting priorities, present trade-off analyses, and drive alignment — escalating to senior leadership for final resolution when stakeholders cannot reach consensus.
  • Provide expert recommendations to the VP of Project Management and senior business leadership on technology roadmap sequencing, build-vs-configure-vs-buy trade-offs, and resource allocation decisions affecting the technology portfolio, supporting informed decision-making by leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Analyze existing systems and workflows to identify, prioritize, and recommend solutions for gaps and inefficiencies; propose investigation scope and remediation approaches to technology leadership for approval within established project parameters.
  • Collaborate with data and analytics teams to define the reporting, metrics, and insights needed to measure business outcomes; recommend measurement frameworks and KPI definitions for stakeholder approval.
  • Maintain current, traceable documentation across all active projects; accountable for requirements quality such that defects traceable to requirements gaps are a direct performance measure of this role.
  • Leverage AI tools to accelerate requirements development, flowchart creation, acceptance criteria authorship, and documentation — applying professional judgment to validate and refine AI-generated outputs before engineering handoff.

What we’re looking for:

Education & Credentials

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field required.

Experience

Three or more years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, Systems Analyst, or similar role in a technology-driven organization, typically acquired through 3–5 years in a comparable environment. We’re looking for demonstrated experience leading requirements development end-to-end, proactively identifying scope and priority conflicts, and serving as a trusted requirements resource for engineering teams — not just gathering and documenting requirements under direction.

Industry & Domain Knowledge

Experience in fintech, financial services, or investment platforms is strongly preferred. Familiarity with cryptocurrency trading, custody, and blockchain concepts; retirement account structures (e.g., IRAs) and related operational workflows; and alternative assets such as precious metals, real estate, or private investments will set you apart.

Technology & Systems

Proficiency in Azure DevOps, Confluence, or similar tools for requirements management and project documentation. Experience working with third-party integrations, APIs, and data feeds is a plus. Familiarity with business intelligence tools and business analysis certifications (CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA, or similar) are also welcome.

Who you are:

A clear, precise communicator — in writing and verbally — who can translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences and business needs for engineering teams.

Someone who drives decisions, not just tasks — you are comfortable being a credible, trusted voice on requirements scope and pushing back constructively on stakeholders when business needs conflict with technical feasibility.

Highly analytical and detail-oriented, with the judgment to work independently within your domain and escalate when decisions exceed your defined scope of authority.

Collaborative and stakeholder-focused, with a track record of building trust across technical and business teams while maintaining clear accountability for your own outputs.

Adaptable in a growing fintech environment where priorities shift and no two days look the same.

$85,000 – $120,000 a year
