Job Description
You’ll own AI image generation for Puffy.com, a $1Billion+ e-commerce brand, producing photorealistic hero, lifestyle, and advertising imagery across e-commerce and marketing. Reporting to the UI/UX Design Lead, you’ll set the prompting approaches, reference workflows, and production standards that keep that output consistent at brand standard, and apply UI/UX design to the layouts that imagery lands in. This is a standalone specialist role. Your portfolio matters more here than your years of experience.
What You’ll Own
Produce imagery that meets the brand standard every time
- Build and refine AI-assisted workflows for Puffy product, hero, and lifestyle imagery, focused on photorealism, product accuracy, and brand consistency.
- Apply UI/UX design skills to e-commerce page layouts and image placement, working with Design and CRO to strengthen visual hierarchy, mobile usability, and the shopping experience.
- Create and test AI-generated and AI-enhanced advertising creative in partnership with the CRO team.
- Develop reusable prompting and reference workflows that make winning outputs repeatable while improving the speed, range, and quality of image production across e-commerce and marketing.
Raise what the wider Design team can produce
- Turn your workflows into production standards the Design team can work to for recurring creative needs.
- Partner with the Design team to share best practices and accelerate adoption of AI image-generation techniques.
- Evaluate new image-generation tools and models on an ongoing basis, introducing them where they materially improve creative quality or efficiency.
What you must demonstrate
Portfolio
- Exceptional portfolio demonstrating commercial AI-generated imagery, particularly photorealistic product and lifestyle work, alongside UI/UX design examples showing effective page layouts and user experiences.
AI generation and editing
- Advanced hands-on proficiency with ChatGPT Images / GPT Image models for image generation, editing, iteration and creative development.
- Advanced hands-on proficiency with Nano Banana Pro (Gemini 3 Pro Image) for professional image generation and editing.
- Strong proficiency across the wider generative-image landscape: Midjourney, FLUX/Stable Diffusion/ComfyUI, Adobe Firefly or equivalent platforms.
- Advanced prompt engineering and visual prompting, including reference images and multimodal inputs, together with strong image-to-image, inpainting, outpainting, compositional-control and iterative-editing workflows.
Craft and production
- Ability to place a real physical product into generated environments without losing fidelity.
- A systematic enough approach to reproduce a winning output on demand, rather than regenerating until a usable result appears.
- Advanced Photoshop, compositing, and retouching capability to take AI outputs through to production-ready final creative.
- Strong fundamentals in composition, lighting, perspective, colour, visual hierarchy, and art direction.
UI/UX design
- Hands-on UI/UX design experience, with judgement for how an image performs inside a live interface rather than as a standalone render.
- Working knowledge of how imagery behaves in layout: crop and focal point across breakpoints, legibility of type and calls to action placed over it, and how an asset holds at thumbnail and ad-placement sizes.
- Comfortable working inside an established design system and brand guidelines, and delivering finished assets in the formats the Design team and developers build from.
Commercial output
- Reads a creative brief commercially and makes the calls that serve the objective.
- Delivers hero, lifestyle, e-commerce, and paid creative against a brief with a stated marketing objective, not just attractive images.
Additional advantages
- D2C and e-commerce experience: especially product and performance-marketing imagery for consumer brands.
- Photography, CGI, or 3D experience: strong understanding of lighting, composition, materials, and photorealistic product visualisation.
- Experience building and sharing AI creative workflows: reusable prompts, reference libraries, templates, or training that helps other designers adopt AI more effectively.
Your First 30 Days — Mapped Out For You
WEEK 1
— Land well
Access to the full generative stack (ChatGPT Images, Nano Banana Pro, Midjourney, ComfyUI, Adobe Firefly, and Photoshop), the Puffy brand asset library, and product reference material. Asana training and your role-specific AI-Native Starter Pack, covering how AI tooling is used across Design, what reference inputs exist for product imagery, and where brand approval sits before an image ships. You meet Kelly, the Design team, and your Growth and e-commerce stakeholders.
WEEK 2
— Get the full picture
You dive into the live imagery running across Puffy.com and paid media, the creative performance numbers, and the current route from brief to finished asset. You review the AI work already attempted, including where product fidelity broke down and where a winning output couldn’t be reproduced. You also walk the customer journey end to end.
WEEK 3
— Start contributing
You pick up your first hero or lifestyle brief alongside Kelly, produce your first AI-enhanced advertising variant with the Growth team, and bring your first reusable prompting approach into design review.
WEEK 4
— Your first ship
Your first AI-generated image goes live on Puffy.com or in paid, and you share your early read on how production should run and where you’d take it.
