Job Description
As a member of the Wallet Operations team, you will actively participate in the proactive management and control of the MMO wallets that the company has across all MMOs and markets in which they operate. Whilst transactional reconciliation is performed by in-house tools, the Wallet Operations team oversees the total activity and implements appropriate checks and balances to ensure accurate reporting and handling of cash in all markets. The team are customer facing in handling top-up and settlement requests and also monitor each wallet for liquidity and execute transfers with MMOs as necessary, and perform the final leg execution of settlement requests via the Group’s banking partners. Liaising with MMOs and customers is, therefore, a key responsibility of the team. You will report to a Team Lead and work alongside one colleague as part of the Company’s wider operations team, which excels in delivering excellent customer service in a timely manner. The successful candidate will have strong attention to detail, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with others to navigate challenges in a fragmented financial infrastructure and streamline workflows.
Your main duties will include:
- Manage mobile money wallets across multiple markets including sweeps and liquidations as needed
- Proactively execute treasury transfers (top-ups, settlements and wallet transfers) to ensure appropriate liquidity management and swift handling of customer settlements
- Identify and contribute to process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Perform reconciliation of multiple MMO and Customer wallets as required;
- Support month-end and year-end close processes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as finance and treasury to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures
- Track and ensure that merchant settlement and funding tasks are being completed within SLAs
- Provide ad-hoc financial support and analysis as needed
- Develop and maintain good and collaborative working relationships with partners
- Support in customer-facing conversations.
You are a perfect fit if you have:
- 2-3 years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, or treasury
- Proficient in wallet management tools, excel and other general computer applications
- Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English
- Ability to perform well under pressure
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial concepts, especially reconciliation
- Solid experience in customer support
- Strong attention to detail
- A team player: demonstrating passion, energy, drive, and a willingness to collaborate with an ambitious team internationally
- A can-do attitude: willing to take initiative, adaptable to change, and able to work without supervision
- Willingness to provide ad-hoc support after working hours on an as-needed basis.
Beneficial skills
- Experience in the payments industry
- Experience working in Africa, with Pan-African experience a particular advantage
- Experience in managing mobile money wallets
- Fluency in French.
