Job Description

This is a 15-hour / week part-time role limited to students still in school. If you are a student but graduating soon, please see our Graduate Trainee program. If you are done with school, please see our Talent Scout JD.

Hi there! I’m Chris, the founder of Sourcing Sprints. We help US-based startup founders who need help making their first hires in engineering, product, design, marketing, or sales.

Our team is based in Lagos, Nigeria, but we source candidates from all over the world. Most of the roles we work on are either focused on startup hubs like SFBA or NYC or are remote / distributed.

We’re for-profit with an impact-focused mission. In addition to our core agency work, we also run free training programs to make it easier for talent in Nigeria to find high paid, remote jobs.

We’re looking to grow and are adding interns to our team. As a talent scout intern, you’ll be focused on sourcing talent for hiring partners.

  • Location: Remote-first. Anywhere in Nigeria.
  • Duration: 3-months
  • Pay: Compensation: $200 / month (including data stipend for 15 hours / week + $500 bonus when you source a candidate that gets hired by a client.
  • Commitment: Part-time, limited to students still in school or university.

About the Role

As a Talent Scout Intern, you’ll help our full-time team run Sourcing Sprints, where we find and reach out to candidates on behalf of clients (primarily early stage, US-based startup founders). We typically work on tech centric roles across software, hardware, growth, product, and design.

You work will primarily involve sourcing, qualifying, and reaching out to high potential candidates.

Who you are

To be eligible for this role you should still be in a Nigerian school or university. We’ll teach you everything you need to know and are optimizing for aptitude over previous experience. However, we’re looking for someone who is:

  • Organized and analytical. You love to work with data, solve puzzles, and have extremely high attention to detail.
  • Tech-savvy. You’ve taught yourself hard, technical things previously. Some of our most successful sourcers were software developers previously. Fluency with spreadsheets is also a must.
  • Excellent communicator. You can speak clearly and confidently with clients. Your written work is free of typos.
  • Impact Minded. As a company, we care a lot about training and personal development.

Requirements

  • Attend and complete Sourcing Camp. Before joining us, you’ll need to pass Sourcing Camp. It’s a free, 6-week practical course designed for you to try sourcing for the first time.
  • Have a functional laptop. Sourcing will require time spent in front of a laptop. Please have access to a personal laptop and strong internet for project work and staying connected with the team.

Benefits of Working at Sourcing Sprints

  • Remote work flexibility. We operate remote-first, although most of our full time team meets up one day a week at our office in Lekki Phase 1. Interns generally work remote and do not commute into the office but they are welcome to come by if they’re in Lagos.
  • Fun colleagues who want to see you succeed and grow.
  • An amazing network. You’ll have the opportunity to build relationships with the founders of venture backed startups in the USA and Europe.
  • A professional work environment dedicated to your growth. We have a monthly book club, tons of internal trainings, and spend a lot of time talking about personal development.
