Job Description

This position is with the Global Strategic Communications Council (GSCC), a global network of communications professionals in the field of climate, energy and nature. 

We’re looking for an innovative  Social Listening and Digital Insight Associate with a unique combination of skills who wants to play a major role in tackling climate change. The role offers a great opportunity to take ownership of our social listening offering within the team, ensure best practice in accessing and understanding the data, with scope to develop and innovate our services to the network further. 

You will develop a strong working relationship with our partners and consult with teams across the network to ensure they can deliver their core analysis, and you will find the right solutions for more advanced or complex projects. You will be able to independently deliver social listening analysis but also work with external partners or freelance consultants where needed and ensure we deliver a quality product.

You will also have the opportunity to work with evolving digital insight tools, platform specific insights, paid media advertising data, website data and get involved in campaign measurement. Existing experience using these types of data is desired but not essential and ongoing training will be provided. We will support you  to build a holistic skillset as a digital insight practitioner and get hands-on experience of applying that insight through the campaign process.

The position reports to and works closely with our digital insight lead, to design the best data and insight solutions to answer key insight questions our teams have and support them through the campaign planning and delivery process. 

How you’ll contribute

  • You will be the primary point of contact for our Brandwatch and Audiense relationships and ensuring our teams are upskilled in using the platforms.
  • You will consult with internal stakeholders to fully understand their brief and help shape the project scope of work including topic definition, objectives and the key deliverables.
  • You will monitor our use of external agencies and consultants to deliver localised social listening reports as needed.
  • You will collaborate with colleagues to perform social listening and digital data analysis for campaigns/events or on topics, and present insights back to inform campaign strategy.
  • You will own the technical side of our social listening setup including identifying keywords, query parameters, and dashboards. 
  • You will pull and interpret relevant data from social listening tools including mention volume, sentiment, conversation drivers, influencers, etc.
  • You will build reports and presentations that transform social data into a clear story. Visualise findings legibly using decks, charts, tables and infographics, and provide actionable insights based on concrete data. 
  • You will be at the forefront of the latest digital listening and insights trends and technologies. 
  • You will share case studies and best practices with relevant stakeholders.
  • You will engage with a broad set of digital data sources media performance data, audience data, attention and viewability data and web data to help our teams understand and evaluate their campaigns.
  • You may be asked to support survey-based insight solutions, especially where they intersect with other digital insight questions or methods.

Our ideal candidate has

  • The candidate we are looking for will have strong prior experience in an insight or digital role with responsibility for social listening analysis.
  • Social Listening expertise – you will have advanced capability in pulling and interpreting data from social media listening/analytics tools such as Brandwatch and Audiense – experience with Talkwalker would also be helpful.
  • Strong analytical skillset – you will be able to apply a core analytical approach to different data sets and demonstrate a best practice approach to pulling data, cleaning and assessing data, producing clear and insightful insight and effective visualisation of the data. We use Google sheets as standard but can potentially set up access to Excel – knowledge of data visualisation tools such as Data Wrapper and Tableau are desirable.
  • Thought Leadership/Subject matter expertise – you will be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of social media platforms such as Meta, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, Reddit, blogs and forums and offer a robust view of the social data context including limitations and the future of our product.
  • Insight plan design – you will have a strong strategic understanding of social listening and where it fits in how we understand audiences build campaigns and be engaged with using other data sources to answer insight questions and help build out a layered approach to insight.
  • Adaptation and critical thinking  – an ability to think creatively about alternative sources of data for insights, to help provide real-world context to the insights provided (e.g. presenting findings within political, social or country-specific settings).
  • Stakeholder management – capability to set  and communicate expectations with stakeholders based on program scope, reporting schedules and follow through on delivery.
